Irish Jig Charters is a family run business and we strive for customer satisfaction. The Irish Jig is run by Capt. Mike Nolan and son, Capt. Hunter Nolan. Both will be running the boat and working the deck depending on the trip. You may also find Capt. Mike's nephews Jack & Jared Nolan working the deck with us as well. Both are professional mates and accomplished fisherman.
CAPT. Mike Nolan
Mike holds a USCG 100 Ton Masters License with Towing Endorsement and was originally licensed in 1981. Mike is a graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park and is an accomplished business professional having worked in the fields of fire protection, risk management, insurance and project/program management over the last 30+ years. Mike grew up at the Jersey Shore and has been fishing and boating since the mid 1970's. His high school/college years were spent as a mate on various party/charter boats at the Jersey Shore including the: F/V Jamaica, F/V Paramount and F/V Jamaica II, F/V Paramount II (Brielle), F/V Super Shy-Poke (Belmar), F/V Barvic (Point Pleasant) and F/V Queen Mary (Point Pleasant). He is married to Jennifer and they have four children (Ian, Shane, Hunter and Michaela).
Capt. Hunter NOLAN
Hunter has grown up at the Jersey Shore and has been fishing and boating since he was 9 years old. Hunter has worked as mate on the F/V Jamaica II (Brielle) and F/V Queen Mary (Point Pleasant) during his high school and college years. Hunter obtained his USCG 100 Ton Masters Inland license at the age of 18 while still in high school. Since that time he has essentially been immersed in the sea and fishing.
Hunter attended SUNY Maritime College and rose to the rank of Commander in the Regiment of Cadets and is a highly respected leader. He graduated in 2017 Cum Laude, with a BS in Marine Transportation and now holds a USCG 2nd Mate Unlimited Tonnage License for all Oceans as well as being certified as Dynamic Positioning Officer (DPO).. When not running the Irish Jig Hunter will be on the bridge of a TE Subcom ship laying or repairing fiber optic sub-sea cables. One of his ships the C/S Resolute was featured on the show Mighty Ships. He has traveled extensively as an officer in the Merchant Marine and American Maritime Officers (AMO) inclduing St. John, Canada, Ireland, Denmark, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Malta, Japan, Taiwan, China, Philippines, Singapore, New Zealand, Bora Bora, Tahiti, The Cook Islands, Hawaii and The Canary Islands.
JAck Nolan - Capt./MATE
Jack is graduate of SUNY Maritime with a BS Degree in Marine Transportation and USCG 3rd Mate Unlimited License. Jack was previously a mate for Capt. Ryan Bogan on the F/V Jamaica II in Brielle and is a fluke and sea bass guru.
JARED NOLAN - MATE
Jared is a is a graduate of Rutgers University and worked for many years for Capt. Dave Riback on the F/V Queen Mary in Point Pleasant, NJ. He is an excellent Striped Bass fisherman as well as a highly accomplished builder of custom fishing rods. Jared will be helping out on trips aboard the Irish Jig as well.
